Exercises on Netflix Streaming

I am not a fan of going to the gym for a bunch of reasons. It's hard to get out when you have a kid. I don't like people watching me work out...bla bla bla.

I needed to do something at home, but I don't have a treadmill or other exercise equipment. We don't have cable either, we just do Netflix & Hulu Plus (which I love). I was searching on Netflix streaming & thought they'd have to have some sort of workouts on there. I found some good ones!

Just search "10 Minute Solutions" & there are a bunch of videos! Each video has 5- 10 minute workouts. So great for a busy mommy! Today I did a kick boxing workout & it was awesome.

These Dance Off videos are fun too. Kind of cheesy, but you get a good workout & get to show off your mad moves! :) Just search "Dance Off" & you'll find loads.

Feeling super motivated? Pair one of the videos with one of {these} awesome daily workout lists!

Hope that helps you ladies that are trying to get your booty in shape :) I've lost 6 pounds so far & still have loads more too loose! At least it's a start, right?

New Favorite {Healthy} Treat!

When the hubs & I are craving something sweet, this is our new healthy treat! We are trying to be good & eat healthy.

All you do is mix 1 cup of nonfat plain greek yogurt & 1/2 cup nutella. Easy & absolutely delicious! {Tip: heat up the nutella for about 30 seconds so it's easy to stir} Dip strawberries, bananas or whatever yummy fruit you can think of. This stuff is so good you can just eat it by the spoonful!

Filet Mignon {Restaurant Style}

My husband & I have been trying to eat at home more. So what better to motivate us if we make some yummy yummy food? The hubs made dinner & I made dessert (Tres Leches, soooo good!). He tried {this} recipe. WOW. It was amazing! So tender & juicy. I don't think we'll make steaks any other way now. Try it, you won't regret it!

1} dump your jelly beans in your jar

2} stick in your eggs & you're done!

Now you have a fun (and cheap) new Easter decoration!

Easter Egg Garland Tutorial

Yes, I had my Easter decorations up the morning after Valentines Day :)

I love decorating for every little holiday. So fun!

I whipped up this Easter egg garland super fast. It's a quick project you can do on your lap while you're watching tv. And it only cost $1, score!

{Easter Egg Garland Tutorial}

Here's what you'll need...

baker's twine: on hand

plastic easter eggs: $1 @ Dollar Tree

needle: on hand

every egg has holes on the bottom & the top, perfect.

1} thread your needle, open your first egg, start at the bottom & pull your thread through both holes.

2} close your egg. this is what it will look like when you pull the thread through both sides.

3} continue adding eggs. do whatever color pattern your little heart desires :)

this is how mine turned out

So easy huh?

Now go make one! :)

Daily Workout Lists

I found {this} list of workouts on Pinterest & have been kicking butt doing them!

They really work every muscle (the muscles I forgot I had, haha). I can feel myself getting stronger already! I usually pair them with a 15 minute dance workout found on Netflix.

These have worked awesome for me, I hope they do for you too!

My little dude loves to crawl all over me while I'm working out :)

Easy Blender Salsa

If you know how to open cans, chop a little & blend....then this salsa is for you!

I made this yesterday & it is soooo good! The hubs loves it too! I used half a jalapeno without the seeds & it was perfect. It has a kick to it, but not too spicy. Mild is how I like it :)

Definitely a keeper recipe!

Easy Blender Salsa

Ingredients:

1- 14 oz can diced tomatoes
1- 10 oz can orginal Rotel
1/2 small onion, roughly chopped
1 clove garlic, peeled and smashed
1/2-1 jalapeno, seeded or not (depends on how spicy you like it)
1 teaspoon honey
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
small to medium size handful of cilantro, washed
juice of 1 lime

Directions:

Put all the ingredients in the base of a food processor or good blender and pulse to combine for 30 seconds or so until all the ingredients are finely chopped and salsa is desired consistency. Taste for seasoning and adjust to taste. Serve with chips or over tacos.

Pounds Lost Jar

*Hahaha. My nice brother just pointed out that I misspelled "lose" by spelling it "loose". Let's just say I meant to do it because I have loose pounds to lose! The correct spelling is fixed in the pictures bellow so you can use the labels, I just need to reprint mine & take new pictures. I guess I'm "loosing" brain cells too! :)

For awhile now I've known that I need to get my booty in shape, it's just been hard to get the motivation, find the time, bla bla bla.... I just need to do it!

I've set goals, taken before pictures {and NO I will not show you those!}, and started the process.

I saw this idea somewhere on Pinterest {sorry I can't remember where} & made it my own.

This is such an awesome way to see your progress.

The 80/20 Rule for your Closet!

"Have you ever heard of the 80/20 rule?

If not, it basically implies that there is an imbalance between the amount of resources we use, and the amount we have.

For example:

It is often said that 80% of the wealth is held by only 20% of the population {or less}

There’s a good chance that 80% of your phone calls, emails, or text messages go to only 20% of your contacts

I know I often fall in a rut of making 20% of my recipes 80% of the time

You’ll notice that 80% of the time, your kids will gravitate towards the same 20% of their toys

If you are a blogger, you’ve probably noticed that 80% of your comments are left by the same 20% of your readers — and we love those readers!

You get the idea, right?

So if you apply those statistics to the mass amounts of clothing in your closet, it means that 80% of the time, you wear the SAME 20% of your clothes.

This also means that the other 80% of your clothing is simply taking up valuable space in your closet.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

If you’re feeling like you wear the same things day after day, this is the perfect time of year to get out of that rut!

Set aside a few minutes {or hours} this weekend to pull everything out of your closet, take stock of what you have, purge, declutter, and create a simple, more organized closet space.

Here are a few tips to get started:

GET RID OF IT IF…

1. …you didn’t wear it this past winter, because there’s a pretty good chance you’re not going to wear it next winter either.

2. …you don’t love how it looks/feels on you

3. …you’ve been mistakenly asked if you are pregnant while wearing it

4. …you often try it on, but then change before leaving the house

5. …you look to old or young in it {age appropriate clothing applies to adults too!}

Now, as you begin to put everything back in your closet, take 2 extra minutes to hang each hanger “the wrong way” {just like the picture}.

Then, every time you wear something {not just try it on, but actually wear it} you can turn that hanger around. After a few months, you’ll easily be able to see what clothes you’re wearing and what ones can probably go.

You’ll have so much extra space in your closet, and you won’t even have to feel guilty about getting rid of anything because you weren’t wearing it anyway!"

Paint Chip Heart Garland

Make a last minute Heart Garland for V-day super fast!

Here's what you'll need:

Heart punch: I got mine from Hobby Lobby

Paint chips: I got a bunch from Walmart. Lowe's or Home Depot has them too.

Bakers Twine: Hobby Lobby

Mini clothes pins: Walmart

{I had everything on hand, so total cost for me was FREE!}

Cut out a bunch of hearts

Measure how long you want your twine, then start putting on the hearts & twine.

And you're done! This is how mine ended up.

Freshen your bathroom trick

Freshen the air with this handy trick. When you get out a new roll of toilet paper, place a few drops of your favorite essential oil in the cardboard tube of the toilet paper. This will release the scent of the oil each time the paper is used....awesome.

Paula Deen's Brisket Recipe

Oh my goodness! This brisket is TO DIE FOR!!

I've always loved Paula Deen & her yummy (not so fat free) recipes, so I thought I'd give this one a try. WOW. So good! It was a hit & definitely a keeper.

I posted the recipe below, but I found it {here}.

Ingredients

2 tablespoons chili powder
2 tablespoons salt
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons dry mustard
1 bay leaf, crushed
4 pounds beef brisket, trimmed
1 1/2 cups beef stock

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Make a dry rub by combining chili powder, salt, garlic and onion powders, black pepper, sugar, dry mustard, and bay leaf. Season the raw brisket on both sides with the rub. Place in a roasting pan and roast, uncovered, for 1 hour.

Add beef stock and enough water to yield about 1/2 inch of liquid in the roasting pan. Lower oven to 300 degrees F, cover pan tightly and continue cooking for 3 hours, or until fork-tender.

Trim the fat and slice meat thinly across the grain. Top with juice from the pan.

So so yummy!! Enjoy!

My Porch

Here's my front porch....

I love it! Can't wait for lazy summer days spent on that porch with my family & friends :)

It's so nice actually having a covered porch, our old house didn't have one.

Last weekend my hubby, my little dude & I took a day road trip to Smoot, Wyoming to pick up this sweet church pew!

The reason we made the 3 hour (6 hours total) trip is because my hubby's great grandpa built the church. How cool is that?! We've been wanting a church pew for our front porch & when we found one that his grandpa built & sat on for many years, we had to have it!

I love an antique, but even more, I love an antique with a story & meaning behind it!!

Bonus!

I spotted these lamps at the home we got the pew from. I had to ask if we could buy them, it was love at first site :)

We talked them down to $75 for both! They are beauts huh?! We just have to get cords & lamp shades for them. I'm having a hard time deciding on what type of shade would look good. These lamps (and our home) are 100 years old. Any idears on a lamp shade that would look good??

Cornflake Candy Recipe

(Is it just me or does anyone else remember getting this in the high school cafeteria?? Lol!)

This stuff is sooo yummy! Easy to make. And great for parties!

Ingredients:

1 cup sugar

1 cup karo syrup

1 1/2 cups peanut butter

4 cups cornflakes

Directions:

Heat sugar & karo syrup on medium heat until dissolved. Stir in peanut butter until melted. Add corn flakes & stir until evenly coated. Drop spoonfuls onto waxed paper & let cool.

Then devour! :)

Edible Glitter!

How to Organize Ties!

I originally found {this} idea on pinterest to organize scarfs. (Which is still a fabulous idea, I just have way too many scarfs!)

My hubby's ties have drove me nuts for way too long!

This is how they usually look....

Shoved in a plastic bag at the bottom of the closet! Seriously?!

I could never find any way to organize them. I swear we've bought every single tie infomercial holder & they never work. I had an "AH HA!" moment. Why not use that method but for ties.

So I went to good ol Dollar Tree & got some shower curtain rings. 12 pack for $1

I had to get 3 packs because my hubby has a tie fetish!

Make sure to use a nice sturdy hanger. This wood one worked great!

It fits perfect in his wardrobe. So organized & it saves SO much space!

I was very pleased with myself :) I feel so accomplished when I organize. I love organizing really. (Am I weird?)

Try it out too! It doesn't take long, it's so cheap & you'll be ok if your hubby has a bazillion ties because they will be organized :)

Stuffed French Toast

I tried {THIS} recipe & it was YUMMY! Definitely worth trying yourself.
I used raspberries instead of blueberries & added raspberries with the cream cheese & jam mix. Then I put raspberries & whipped cream on top. With a side of bacon. And guess what?! It's FAT FREE!!!!! ;)

All you need is...

Mini mailbox: $1.99 @ Hobby Lobby

Acrylic paint: on hand (I used hot pink)

Felt heart sticker: on hand ($2.99 for a 30 pack @ Joann's)

Valentine prints: found {here}

Just paint your mailbox. Slap a felt heart sticker on it. Print some Valentines & stick them in your mailbox. And you're done :)

Get the printables {HERE}. I right clicked on the image & saved it to my desktop. Then opened the file & printed as is. It printed the valentines the perfect size to fit in the little mailbox.

These would be so fun to make for each of your kids. The family can exchange sweet little notes to each other :)

This craft takes literally 1 minute! (that's my kind of craft!!)

All you need is:

Large mason jar (on hand)

Conversation hearts- 2 bags $1 each @ Dollar Tree

Glitter heart sticks- 1 pink, 1 red $1 each @ Dollar Tree

Stick the sticks in the jar & arrange them how you'd like.

Pour in the conversation hearts & you're DONE!

La La Love You Heart Wreath Tutorial

♥Heart Day Crafts Day 3!

{La La Love You Hearth Wreath Tutorial}

Here's what you'll need.....

Heart wreath form: $3.49 @ Hobby Lobby
Red felt sheets: 4/$1.00 @ Hobby Lobby
2.5" x 3.5" picture frame: $1.00 @ Dollar Tree
Bakers twine, ribbon or lace: on hand
White acrylic paint or spray paint: on hand
Glue gun
Scissors

Take a felt sheet, fold it in half (hamburger style), cut it in half, lay the halves on top of each other & cute 2 inch strips.

This is what your strips will look like. It's ok if they aren't perfectly straight, mine sure aren't!

I didn't count how many strips I cut, just cut a bunch! I used exactly 2 sheets of felt.

I started at the left side of the heart. Take a strip, wrap it around the wreath good & tight then glue the strip down.

Take another strip & overlap a little bit (more or less than I did if you want), wrap the strip around & glue flat on back. Repeat until all the way around the wreath.

Finished the wreath!

Little dude wants to play with it :)

Next grab your frame. Take out the back & glass then paint it white (or a different color if you'd like).

Then print {THIS} to fit inside your frame.

Or do any other print you'd like.

Take the stand off back of the frame because you won't need it. It easily pops out.

Next: take your heart wreath, framed picture, glue gun & twine.

Lay your twine over the front of your wreath leaving enough room for a loop at the top of your wreath.

Take the two ends of the twine, wrap them underneath the wreath & pull tight.

Now flip your wreath over & tie knots on both sides. (don't judge the back of my wreath, you won't see it so it's ok if it's ugly, right?)

Flip your wreath back over so the front side is facing up.

Decide where you want your frame to hang.

{Framed Heart Art Tutorial}

Here's what you'll need...

8x10 frame: $1.00 @ Dollar Tree

Old book: on hand or get one for $1 at the thrift store

Heart punch (1 1/2"): $5.99 @ Hobby Lobby

Glue dots: on hand

Cardstock: on hand

Red paint card sample: free at Walmart, Lowes or Home Depot

Punch out 23 hearts from your book pages. And 1 heart from your red paint sample.

You will have 24 hearts total.

Take out the glass from the picture frame. Lay your cardstock in the frame (you may have to cut off a half inch or so to fit in the frame). Tape the paper to the inside of the frame from back so it doesn't move. Flip your frame so it's right side up.

Attaching the hearts:

Measure if you want, but I didn't want to! :)

So....starting at the top left lay out 6 hearts from top to bottom. Then attach them with a glue dot to the paper.

Next starting at the top, place 3 more hearts from left to right then attach them with a glue dot. This makes it easy to get the hearts pretty straight. Continue attaching all the hearts and add one red heart wherever you'd like.

(When you're done you will obviously put the glass back in the frame.)

And you're done! You have your own Heart Art :)

5 Minute Valentines Day Garland

♥Day 1 of my week of Heart Day Crafts! Get excited everyone!! :)

I wanted to make a cute heart garland for my mantel, but I wanted a quick project.

So...I came up with this super cute, 5 minute, no sew, cheap garland :)

{5 Minute Valentines Day Garland Tutorial}

Here's what you'll need:

Felt heart stickers: from Joann's $2.99 but they are 30% off right now= $2.09

Bakers twine- 3 pack from Hobby Lobby- $3.99 (I'm sure you can find this a lot cheaper online or somewhere else. But I will use it in the near future for more projects!)

Decide how long you want your garland to be & cut your twine. Next choose a pattern for your hearts. This is what I chose.

The best tip for making this project go by super quick! Peel back the plastic paper on the back of the sticker starting at the bottom, but don't take it all the way off. Lay the twine on the sticky part closet to the top of the heart, just above the middle. This way the hearts will stay face out when hung up.

Then close the paper back to the sticky part. The twine will be in between the felt heart & the paper on the back. Continue doing this until you are finished with your garland! I spaced my hearts about 2 inches apart.

And the garland is finished :)

My pattern worked out perfectly for my hearts. That never happens!

I even had hearts left over for another project.

I wanted to hang my garland on my mantel, so I grabbed some glue dots. This way I can take off the garland easily & I won't have to put any nails or hooks in my mantel.

My mantel before...

I stared at one end of the mantel. Just put a glue dot on the back of the heart & push it on the mantel.

Do the same to the other end so it looks like this.

Then I found the center of the garland & put it up with another glue dot.

Then two more times. And you're done :)

My fireplace all decked out for Heart Day :)

So easy right? I love how it turned out!

All I did was get a 3.5" x 5" joint frame at Dollar Tree, printed them with my printer & stuck them on my mantel. Love them!

The best thing about 2011 was having our first baby.

Nutella Hot Cocoa.....Mmmm!

Just put a large dollop of whipped cream on top & it's heaven :)

Recipe: Nutella Hot Chocolate

Summary: Stir Nutella into steaming hot milk for the tastiest version of hot chocolate ever! This is a d’oh recipe if ever there was one!

Ingredients

1 cup milk (I used 1%, but you could do it with nonfat, whole or whatever milk you have around)
1 1/2-2 tablespoons Nutella

Instructions

Heat milk to steaming. You can do this in a microwave or in a pan on top of the stove. When steaming hot, pour into a mug. Stir in Nutella until it dissolves.
Done. Drink and enjoy!

Cooking time: 3 minute(s)
Number of servings (yield): 1

Pinecone Stocking Holders Tutorial

I really needed stocking holders, but couldn't find anything I liked or wanted to spend much money on..... So I made my own!

You can make your very own pinecone stocking holders for less than a few dollars each too!

Here's what you'll need:

glass ashtray (Dollar Tree)

pinecones (i got a bag of red pinecones from Dollar Tree, but you can gather them for free! then paint them red or whatever color you'd like)

hooks (i got suction cup hooks from Dollar Tree & took the metal hook off the suction cup)

spray glitter

fake snow (i got a giant bag from Walmart for $2.50)

glue gun

Flip your ashtray upside down. Glue metal hook to the front of the ashtray. Paint your pinecone whatever color you'd like. Add glitter spray too! (I used gold) Then sprinkle fake snow on top of your pinecone. Glue your pinecone to the top of the ashtray & VOILA! You have a new, super cute, super cheap stocking holder! Make as many as you'd like :)

Recycling Candles

Genius! I don't know why I didn't think of this!!

Melt your candles on a candle warmer, pour the melted wax in an ice cube tray, set it in the freezer for about 20 minutes to harden....hello Scentsy refills!!!!

I've even gotten rid of candles because I switched over to Scentsy. Darn it! Make sure to save those candles & recycle them! Maybe I'll try a thrift store :)

5 minute Dollar Store Infinity Scarf Tutorial!

Here's why....

-Fast....Only takes 5 minutes!

-Cheap....Total cost= $1! Oh yeah :)

-Easy....No sewing machine required!

Need I say more?

Here's what you'll need:

Knit Scarf: $1 (Dollar Tree)

Yarn: on hand

Needle: on hand

this scarf has tassels on the end. cute, but we need to get rid of them!

{1} remove those tassels! they are just tied on, so untie them.

this is what your scarf will look like when all the tassels are off.

{2} place the right sides together.

{3} get your yarn & needle. start hand stitching. through over through over through over...

{4} when you get to the end, just tie it in a knot & weave in tails on both sides.

and you're done!

see, I told you! easy peasy and so darn cute!

Moving Day!

Moving, yay......

Today is our big moving day.

It would be a lot more exciting if we were moving to the home that we are buying. But we are moving in with the in laws for a month. Then moving AGAIN. Don't you wish you were me??Our loan process is not matching up with the sale of our home, so we have to be out before we can move into our new home :(

At least the in laws only live a few blocks away, right? (just trying to be positive....)

BUT! I cannot wait until we can move into our dream home. The home we want to raise our children in. The home we want to grow old in. Our home. We want this to be our last move, so it will all be worth the stress we've been going through, right? YES! :)

Pumpkin Pancakes!

I love pumpkin anything! Especially during Fall.

Pumpkin pancakes are soooo yummy! I must make these!!

PUMPKIN PANCAKES

3 cups flour
3/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4. tsp. ginger
2 T brown sugar
2 cups pumpkin puree or canned pumpkin
2 1/2 cup sour milk* (more or less depending on moistness of pumpkin)
3 eggs

1. Mix dry ingredients in large bowl, making a hole in the center.

2. Add pumpkin puree, sour milk, eggs to center of bowl, and mix gently. Do not overmix. If batter is a bit stiff, add a little water until it can easily be spooned onto a hot lightly greased griddle.

3. Let pancakes bake until bubbles pop in the top, then flip—just one time. Do not press down—you want these to be light and airy!

4. Serve with your choice of whipped cream, syrup, and strawberries...or you could go the sweet route and top them with a vanilla glaze.

*Sour milk...this can be in any form: buttermilk, raw milk that has soured (not pasteurized milk), 1 tablespoon plain yogurt + water to make 1 cup, 1 3/4 teaspoon cream of tartar + milk to make 1 cup, 1 tablespoon vinegar or lemon juice + milk to 1 cup. Let stand to clabber for 5 minutes before using.

I made these cookies the other night & they are so YUM!!

I used milk chocolate chips (Guittard) instead of semi sweet. Milk chocolate is sooo much better! They are dangerously addicting, so be careful ;)

Selling a home is hard! Especially in this awesome economy...

Keeping your house clean is very hard too. There is a difference between a clean house & a spotless house. Try keeping your house spotless all the time, I dare you! ;)

It takes up so much of my time & is super stressful. We're so ready to move on & get into the house we want to grow old in & raise our family. I have it all in my head how I want to decorate our new house & what I want to put where! I'm going nuts!! I will definitely have to share pictures if (no when!) we get our dream house.

Hopefully we can sell our home soon! Wish us luck :)
